Yaas Cyclone Update: The Meteorological Department has warned that in the next 24 hours, cyclone yaas will turn into a very severe cyclone. On Wednesday, yaas will reach coats of Bengal and Odisha. People have been evacuated to safety after the cyclone hit. On the other hand, the Home Ministry has assured all the states affected by cyclone yaas that the ministry will be ready to help them 24 hours a day. In additional, The Indian Meteorological Department has informed that on the afternoon of May 26, Cyclone yaas hit the coats of Northern Odisha and Bengal.
The cyclone has raised the sea level on Shankarpur-Dikha beach in West Bengal. Heavy rainfall is expected with the change in weather. It has also started raining in some places. Nine Army rescue teams have been deployed in Kolkata. Apart from this, 17 teams have been deployed in Purulia, Zargram, Birbhum, Bardhaman, West Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia along with 24 Parganas of North and South.
Yaas Cyclone Update
- The southern Indian states of Odisha and West Bengal have been hit by a recent hurricane named Yas.
- According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), pressure has been created in the eastern center of the Bay of Bengal.
In the initial phase, the wind speed will be 155 km to 165 km per hour. The advancing wind speed is expected to be 185 km.
- The storm is likely to hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal on May 26.
