NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter Succeeds in Historic First Flight: Helicopter engine with NASA's Perseverance spacecraft landed on Mars for the first time on the 17th. It was the first time in the history of this world that any kind of flight had taken place on any other planet. NASA compared the event to the first flight in 1905.

According to NASA, the helicopter took off at 3.30 am (Eastern time) Eastern Standard Time (EST). The helicopter flew for a total of 3.1 seconds. It achieved a height of 10 meters. At an altitude of 10 meters, the helicopter remained stationary for 30 seconds.

The details of the flight were received by NASA two and a half hours after the flight. Other details will come slowly, NASA said. All the programs for helicopter flight are already arranged in it and the helicopter is getting energy through solar panels. The place where the helicopter flew is now renamed Wright Brothers Field by NASA, as it was the first spacecraft to fly to another planet 115 years ago.

This helicopter is not like the gigantic helicopter on our earth. It's supposed to be a children's toy, but NASA has spent a whopping ૫ 25 million on it. The helicopter is 12.5 inches high and weighs 1.5 kilograms. Its success will make it easier for future spacecraft to fly.

JPL, which built Ingenuity, also manages the technology demonstration project for NASA. It is supported by NASA’s Science, Aeronautics, and Space Technology mission directorates. The agency’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley and Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, provided significant flight performance analysis and technical assistance during Ingenuity’s development.
